QSI Terminals Interface with National Instrument's LabVIEW Platforms.

Salt Lake City, Utah. 10 February 2003. QSI Corporation has worked directly with National Instruments to design and implement a set of "drivers" allowing QSI's operator interface terminals to interface with National Instrument's LabVIEWô platforms like FieldPoint, Compact FieldPoint and PXI. Currently, drivers are available for QSI's QTERM-J10, QTERM-G70 and QTERM-G75 operator interface terminals.

"We have implemented a 'partner' program with National Instruments to focus on their customers' needs," says Todd Christensen, QSI Director of Marketing. "Our goal is to simplify the implementation of QSI's operator interface terminals with National Instrument's LabVIEW platforms and create a positive, uncomplicated experience for the end user."

The QSI QTERM-J263, a special version of the standard QTERM-J10 terminal, is a 4-line LCD display and keypad. The drivers developed for this character terminal can be used to communicate with any National Instruments LabVIEW Real-Time controller. Although the QTERM-J263 is designed for LabVIEW Real-Time, it can also be utilized on any LabVIEW platform with a standard RS-232 serial port. While these drivers were developed for an 18-key version (QTERM-J263) of the QTERM-J10, they can be adapted for use with other QSI character-based terminals. The QTERM-J263 can be ordered directly from QSI Corporation.

In addition, a library of Qlarityô objects, for use with QSI's QTERM-G70 and QTERM-G75 Ethernet-enabled graphic terminals, has been created especially for National Instruments. Qlarityô objects and LabVIEW VIs make it easy to create applications for local display and control. The QTERM-G70 and QTERM-G75 feature a lighted, color, graphic displays; touch screens; EIA-232, -422 or -485 serial interfaces; 10/100Base-T Ethernet connections and a host of other industrial-grade components.
