QSI Corporation, Microlink Devices and American Taxi Dispatch, Inc. to Field Low-Cost Taxi Dispatching Solution.
Salt Lake City, Utah, Niles Illinois and Mount Prospect, Illinois. 3 October 2006. QSI Corporation, manufacturer of rugged operator interface and mobile data terminals, MicroLink Devices, an epi-wafer fabricator specializing in custom component manufacture and integration, and American Taxi Dispatch, Inc., the largest suburban taxi dispatch in the United States, announce the trial deployment of a new, full featured, low-cost taxi dispatching system. The system will be tested this autumn and subsequently rolled out to the entire American Taxi fleet, made up of over 800 vehicles.
"American Taxi Dispatch, Inc.'s new dispatching system allows for the expansion of dispatching capabilities in an unlimited number taxis. It maintains the integrity of taxi orders to the widest range of customers in multiple municipalities, each with their own licensing specifications," says Sally Beck, one of American Taxi Dispatch, Inc.'s owners. "We believe that the new system will increase our performance and our customer satisfaction, and customer satisfaction has always been our number one priority."
The in-vehicle components of the new system, which include the VTERM-G55 mobile data terminal from QSI, will provide all necessary electronic functions for the taxi. The flexibility of combining several taxi applications (meter, pager, credit card swipe, radio, keypad, etc.) will reduce the cost to a new driver by two-thirds.
The back-end dispatching system, developed exclusively by American Taxi Dispatch, Inc., will track the profiles and habits of customers to provide more taxi availability. It will also track driver activity and location to give customers more accurate estimated times of arrival. In addition, the system will allow full use of an automated call taking system, connecting all customers' phone numbers and email.
Perhaps the greatest achievement of the design of the new system is its modularity, allowing it to be configured to meet a wide range of needs for a broad variety of dispatching applications and markets.
Noren Pan, President and Founder of MicroLink devices comments, "We are working closely with American Taxi Dispatch, Inc. and QSI to provide the latest technology to significantly improve the quality and reliability of dispatch services at an attractive price."
"We look forward to supplying our VTERM-G55 mobile data terminal as part of this new dispatching system," adds Jim Elwell, President of QSI Corporation. "The particular requirements for this deployment allow us to once again showcase our ability to provide rugged yet economical mobile data terminals for in-vehicle applications."
