Q: How do I use the buttons aroudn the outside of the the display? i.e. the (usually) five buttons that line the left and right side of the terminal.
A: The area to which you are referring is the "legend" area of the terminal.
The terminal's touchscreen extends beyond the boundaries of the display. This means that the buttons which are drawn on the legend are eligible to receive touch events.
The most common object to place in the legend area is a ButtonV2. You can handle this object's click event as you could any other button.
DisplaySettingsV2 is another common object to place in this area, and will automatically adjust the terminal's contrast or backlight.
Usually any object placed on the legend area is considered global and will be active regardless of which screen is currently displayed.
