This post will briefly cover the configuration of Windows Mobile Device Center in Windows 7 for a QSI WinCE device that connects to the PC via the USB-Serial adapter.

(For devices that connect via USB please see this previous post: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3965)

!!!Important!!! Remember that on the QSI terminal itself you will need to enable the PC connection. This can be done via the Start Menu->Settings->Control Panel->PC Connection checkbox.

Now you will need to configure Windows Mobile Device Center to watch the PC COM port that you will plug the device into. You should see a screen like this:

You should be able to click the connection settings and then receive this pop-up:

If you are familar with Active-sync, then you should feel right at home because this dialog is almost an exact copy of the one that shows up in Active-sync. Go ahead and adjust the settings as you desire. Make sure to select the correct COM port in the list of "Allow connections to one of the following". After you do this, the device should be automatically detected when plugged in and then connection established.

If you are still having trouble getting the connection to work, verify that your connection path is correct. The following post reviews a few of them:
