Post subject:  Phone call and GPRS data on WCE 6.0 terminal

Hello all,
I would need to check the accessibility of the GSM multiplexing (voice and data at the same time) of the local GSM provider. I have a BT headset paired with the USB BT-dongle plugged into the terminal for the phone call and I want to use the pocket explorer to test the data over GPRS. The question is:
- can you provide a phone application which supports the phone calls over the GSM multiplex?

Thanks

Roman,

We are currently developing a RIL/mutiplex driver for the TREQ-VMx to support data and voice communication. While we have been able to place and receive phone calls using RIL we have not yet implemented all the RIL functions such as data services. Because this is part of a large project I cannot provide a timeframe of when the RIL driver and sample application will be available.

Thanks Brigham,
Can you add me to the mail list when this functionality will be available?

Note that even with the RIL/MUX multiplexer, we may not support Voice+Data at the same time. The RIL/MUX multiplexer allows for other functions such as Data + signal strength queries.

I thought that data+signal strength is already available (GPRS data via RAS and querying signal status via COM4). Isn't it?

Unfortunately RAS does not have an available command to query modem signal strength. While you can call an AT command to query the signal strength this isn't possible when RAS is connected since the COM4 port won't be available. With RIL/MUX, the expectation is that such commands will be allowed. To get the most accurate signal reading requires that the modem is queried prior to calling RasDial().
